The Pennsylvania Butterfly Preserve has been approved as a 501 C-3 tax exempt non-profit corporation. Its mission is to educate adults and children about butterflies by creating an outdoor Butterfly Preserve (sanctuary), where butterflies could be seen in large quantities in a controlled habitat, devoid of trees. A large variety of nectar plants and host plants (the plants butterflies lay eggs on to complete their life cycle) will be prevalent in the Butterfly Preserve. The facility will be open daily to the public.

Conservation will be emphasized at the facility, and scientific experiments will be done to learn how to increase butterfly populations that are near extinction in Pennsylvania. Monarch tagging will be done every fall in order to track the Monarch migration to Mexico. The tagging will be done in conjunction with MonarchWatch, a non-profit organization based at the University of Kansas.

Donations are accepted and appreciated to help pay for this website.  Make checks payable to PA Butterfly Preserve at address above.   Thank you.
